Bridal Shower Cupcake Wedding Dress - Cupcake Floral Bouquets

I am always up for new challenges and trying different things! I have seen these cupcake dresses before and thought they looked super cute. So when I was asked to make one I was more than happy to say YES!

The order was for 4 dozen cupcakes total, 2 dozen vanilla and 2 dozen chocolate. I ended up using 31 cupcakes in the dress, the rest of the cupcakes were used to make 2 cupcake bouquets.

I laid out the cupcakes before I started icing everything to make sure it looked ok and everything would fit!

I used my very light and creamy buttercream icing and accented the dress with an edible pearl belt and a very sparkly rhinestone.

The bouquets were the most fun to make. I piped out all of my flowers ahead of time so I could easily move them onto the bouquet once I had the base coat iced.

I love the way this turned out and I can't wait to make another one

60th Birthday Cake - Red and Black Fondant Decorations

I had a busy weekend for cakes and cupcakes...and baking when it's humid and hot in a house without A/C SUCKS!! I was up at 5am to bake so the house would have time to cool down a bit before the heat of day started.

This cake was made for a friends mom's 60th surprise birthday party! The theme for the day was black and red. Right after this 60th surprise party was another  party with Elmo as the theme. To make decorating easier we went with red and black decorations for the cake.

The cake is a 10" marble cake with chocolate filling covered in fondant with red and black fondant decorations. I was trying to go with a design that was classy and elegant but yet simple.

When I had the cake done to this point I knew the 60 was going to go on top but it looked liked so much white space. So I added some extra black vines and flowers to help fill it in.

It still looked kind of bare so I added 'Happy Birthday' which I had to rewrite 4 times because it looked horrible. And because I had to rewrite it so many times I couldn't get all of the black edible marker off by the 'H'

SO.........

I added more vines to make it look like the vines were creeping into the 'Happy Birthday'
WHAT A SAVE :)

Over all I am very happy with how it ended up turning out. I hope the Birthday Girl had a wonderful 60th Birthday.

Elmo Cupcakes

What little kid doesn't LOVE Elmo?? What better way to celebrate a birthday party than with Elmo cupcakes!!
Cupcakes are chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. All Elmo's are made from fondant.

My version of Patchy Patch from Toopy Binoo! Love him! and he's my favorite character from the shower actually....maybe because he doesn't do anything lol

1st Birthday Buttercream Smash Cake

I was asked by my good photography friend Karen to make another smash cake for one of her clients.
The cake was designed to match the little girls dress she was going to wear during her cake smash.
I'm hoping I'll be able to share a picture of the little princess smashing her cake, just waiting to hear if I have permission to post :)

I am super happy with how the cake turned out. The cake is covered in buttercream with buttercream dots and a fondant '1'.
Karen always does such an amazing job, and makes my cakes look AMAZING!! She is truly an amazingly talented photographer and person.

Pink Ruffle Birthday Cake

My eldest daughter just turned 7! CRAZY!!!! She wanted to make a very girly cake with some bling so together we created her cake...more her telling me what to do lol.

This 2 tiered cake is a 4" top and a 6" bottom both marble cake with cookies and cream buttercream and double chocolate fudge filling.

This was my first time trying the ruffle technique. I am pretty happy with the results. I really under estimated the amount of fondant I would need so I had to skimp of the ruffles a wee bit. The top tier gave me some trouble as well. It was suppose to be a smooth tier with my daughters name written in rhinestones but the 4" stacked cake didn't want to cooperate with me. I was running out of time so I didn't let it rest as long as I should so it slipped a wee bit which made the fondant bulge in spots. To cover it up and make it look half decent I put ruffles on the top tier.

                                                     Happy 7th Birthday Baby girl!!
