Mickey and Minnie Twin Birthday cake

My niece and nephew will be turning one at the end of this month and that my friends is amazing. They have come such a long way in the last year! They were born at 31 weeks weighing in at 3lbs 5oz (Grace) 3lbs 12oz (John).  Seeing them when they were a few weeks old astonished me, two perfectly tiny itty bitty babies in the incubators melted my heart and when I say tiny I mean TINY!

I was honored to make their first birthday cake and what better way to celebrate than with friends, family and Mickey & Minnie :D

My sister-in-law sent me few pictures of what she liked for a Mickey cake and what she liked for a Minnie cake so I combined the two to get the perfect combination!

Top tier is a 6" marble cake filled with homemade fudge and vanilla buttercream. All the decorations are fondant and 100% edible.

The bottom tier was chocolate cake filled with homemade fudge, homemade caramel and vanilla buttercream. Mickey's feet are made from Rice Krispy treats and covered in fondant.

What is a first birthday with a cake smash...or two :) John and Grace both got their own cake to smash. John was more than happy to squash the cake but dainty little Grace wanted nothing to do with it and cried her sweet little heart out.
I will follow up with some pictures once I get them :)

I have to give a HUGE shout out to my sister and brother-in-law. You two have made having twins look easy. Allison you are an AMAZING women and mother and I am so honored to call you my sister.
Love you!!
XO

Horse Inspired 1st Birthday Party - Pink Rose Buttercream Cake with Horse Sugar Cookies and Cowgirl Boots

This order was so much fun, so labor intensive and exhausting all at the same time lol!
I was asked to make an 8" cake, a smash cake, 24 cupcakes, 15 cake pops, 15 decorated horse cookies and 15 decorated cowgirl cookies.

The theme for the party was Horsy / Farm Girl, so cute and the mom did an amazing job pulling everything together!

The 8" cake was chocolate with cookies and cream filling covered in pretty pink buttercream roses. The horse cake topper and all the display was provided by the mom. Photo credits go to Amanda Rowden from Lasting Memories By Amanda Rowden

Here's a great shot of the birthday girl...........

1st Birthday Cakes - Yellow and Pink 1st Brithday Cake | Blue and Stars 1st Birthday Cake

So VERY behind on posting....like MONTHS!!

I had two 1st birthday cakes to make, one for my niece and one for a friends son. It truly is amazing how fast a year goes by especially when you have a tiny little human being to compare it to.

This yellow and pink 6" cake was made for my niece's 1st birthday. The cake is covered in buttercream with fondant pearls and a fondant one. Cake was vanilla with strawberry buttercream filling.

This 6" cake was made for a friends son's 1st birthday. She has decorations in shades or blue ad burnt orange so the cake was made to match.

Pink Lady Bug 1st Birthday Cake

There is nothing more satisfying than having a cake turn out exactly as I wanted it to.
With that said I love, love, love how this cake turned out! I was asked to make a Pink Lady Bug Cake for a friends daughters first birthday.

The cake is an 8" vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling and covered in pure white buttercream.

All accents are made from fondant

I can't even decide which part of this cake is my favorite. I think everything from the bow, to the curls to the lady bugs!

I hope the birthday girl has a wonderful first birthday!!

1st Birthday Construction Cake

My best friends Little guy just turned one (well back in May and I am SOOOO behind in posting)
It's really crazy how fast time flies by when you have kids. It seems like yesterday I was in the hospital visiting her and meeting Ryker for the first time.

So here we are a year later celebrating his first birthday. Ryker is a true little boy through and through. Anything and everything is a truck and can and will make a truck noise lol
So what better way to celebrate than to make a cake with a truck.

This 2 tiered cake is a 6" vanilla top and a 8" chocolate bottom both with cookies and cream filling.
The bottom tier is made to look like a tire, well at least I think it looks like one haha.
The truck on top is a toy but the boulder inside is made from rice kripies :)
I will hopefully get a better picture from my friend as my camera is  so bad.

Fun and Bright 1st Birthday Cake

This cake was made for a friends daughter who just turned 1! This cake took so many hours to make but it was fun and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

The cake is a 4" top tier made from rice krispies, 6" middle tier and an 8" bottom tier. The middle and bottom are both vanilla cake with strawberry filling. All tiers are covered in homemade fondant and all decorations are gumpaste.

The cupcake was more little Miss McKenna to smash :)

The only thing that I'm not happy about is the fondant on the middle tier started to wave a bit...very frustrating to spend so much time of something and not have it come out perfect in your eyes.

1st Birthday Cake

1st Birthday Cake,present cake,blue fondant,red fondant bow

The weather has been so hot and humid the last week making cakes and covering them in fondant has been rather challenging! It took a lot of patience on my part and a few times rolling out the fondant to get results that looked okay. Fondant and humidity do not mix well!! I think some A/C may be in order!!

This 10" chocolate cake is filled with cookies and cream filling and covered in blue fondant.

1st Birthday Pillow Cake

This was my first time making a pillow cake. The top tier is rice krispy treats (rkt) craved and covered in fondant. The botton tier is a 8" vanilla cake filled with vanilla & chocolate buttercream and covered in marshmallow fondant(mmf). Carving the rkt's was easy but the cake was another story! I was worried I was cutting off too much of the cake. Lesson learned next time go with a cake one size bigger so you carve the shape you want and stil have enough cake.

This is my second royal icing tiara. I drew out the design I wanted piped the royal icing and painted it with edible paint once it was dry.

All decorations are made from marshmallow fondant. The flowers on the botton tier were cut and then stuck onto the pillow. Once they were dry they were painted with pink edible glitter paint.

1st Birthday Cake

This 10" vanilla cake was made for a friend's daughters first birthday. It is filled with vanilla buttercream and covered in purple marshmallow fondant.

All decorations are made of fondant. The theme was balloons which was based on the plates bought for the party. The cake surface was so big that I needed to incorporate something else to make it look full. This is why I did the bow and the little baby bunny.

1st Birthday Cake

This cake was created for my daughters 1st birthday.

The cake is an 8" round Vanilla Butter Cake filled with extra rich chocolate buttercream. It is covered in buttercream icing and is topped with a two toned pink fondant bow with a fondant 1.
The pearls on the cake are also made with fondant and covered in pearl dust. This was my fist attempt at a diamond impression, I didn't have a diamond impression mat at the time and tried to free hand the pattern...live and learn.

The smash cake is also Vanilla Butter Cake and is covered in buttercream icing.
