Pink, White & Zebra Wedding Shower

My mom and I threw a wedding shower for my sister back in May and I am just now getting around to posting about it.

My sister is an amazing person and I wanted her shower to reflect her in every way possible so I pulled out all the stops for her. I chose a pink, white and zebra theme. I have always wanted to do a candy buffet so this shower gave me the opportunity to not only do that but try my hand at some other things I've been wanting to try.

A friend of mine helped me to make a banner for the sweets table, 'LOVE IS SWEET' and I created one for the shower 'BRIDAL SHOWER' I also made many many many tissue balls. I love the way they turned out and I thought we could use them again at the wedding.

First I've always wanted to try French Macarons, it was definitely an experience! Fist off when they looked unbaked they're NOT....our first batch was very crispy but still tasty! Second use alot of food gel as the colour washes out, what looked pink before baking turned more brown. We filled them with chocolate ganache. They were sweet, chewy and mouth watering. I will forsure be making these again!!

Candied Orange slices we also a first. My mom really wanted to make these. They were actually really fun to make. Next time I think I would bake them alittle longer as some were chewy but they were very freshing!!

I made a bunch of cupcakes

Some different cake balls

I don't know why this pic is blurry??!!

Some chocolate dipped strawberries

I also made some fun sugar cookies, some dipped in chocolate, some with royal icing and some with fondant. I bought some edible glitter which I am now in LOVE with and want to use on EvERYTHING. Lesson on these cookies, don't get impatient no matter how excited you are to use your glitter. Wait until you base coat of royal icing in completely dry or the glitter will stick....I thought 3 hours would be enough time and I REALLY want to use my glitter lol.

The cake was so fun to make and I'm so happy with how it turned out. It's a 8" bottom and 6" top both made of  pink champange cake and filled with strawberry filling. The cakes are covered in fondant with fondant accents. I really wanted to add some 'bling' to the cake but didn't want to spend an arm and leg on rhinestones so I found something that looked like rhinestones. All the flowers are hand made :) Love you sister!!
