Madigascar Penguins Birthday Cake
I was asked to make a birthday cake with the penguins from Madigascar. I wasn't sure how well they we're going to turn out but I love them. They are all hand made from fondant along with all the 'painting' accessories!
The cake is an 8" vanilla cake and filled with strawberry buttercream.

Ballerina Princess Cake
I'm pretty sure every little girl at some point in their life wanted to be either a princess or a ballerina or both.

This cake was made for such a little girl! The hand made teddy bear is a princess ballerina wearing a sweet little tutu. I wanted to show off the little teddy feet so I made a pair of ballet slippers to go on top of the cake as well. I dusted the ballet slippers in pearl luster dust to give them some simmery shine.

The 6" cake is a vanilla cake filled with a chocolatey mousse pudding. The cake is covered in a light purple buttercream and has a pearl boarder which I dusted with pearl luster dust.

City & Muskoka Birthday Cake
I was asked to make a birthday cake with a city and muskoka theme. What better way to represent the 'city' here than the CNtower and the Rogers center. The best part of Muskoka is summer so throw in a lake, a dock, sandals, & some beer and you're set!!

I actually had the biggest problem with getting grey fondant! What could be so hard about getting grey right, white and a bit of black and boom you have grey.....well not always so. To make black food gel the company mixes a whole lot of colors, epecially dark ones like green and purple, if they add more of one color...in my case green the fondant takes on a greenish tinge....add white and you get a greeny grey which was not what I wanted!! So after playing around a bit and yelling a bit I turned to Google! The solution...add PURPLE but just a bit and TADA grey!!
This 6" cake is vanilla and filled with chocolate buttercream filling. As a boarder I did a city skyline...not bad for a last minute cake!!

Happy Halloween!!
I've been neglecting my caking duties! Life has been very busy for us the last couple of months so 'playing with sugar' hasn't been at the top of my priority list...but I miss it!!

The kids asked if we could bake some Halloween cupcakes so of course I said yes :)
We baked chocolate cupcakes and iced them with buttercream. To keep with the Halloween theme we made them look like candy corn! We looked for candy corn candies to top the cupcakes with but this was all kind of last minute and we couldn't find any. The kids ended up decorating theirs with yellow and orange gummies...by the time I charged the battery for the camera they had eaten theirs LOL!!
I also did a chocolate buttercream topped with a caramilk and shaved chocolate! Yummy!

Princess Cake
This cake was made for a friends daughter's 5th birthday. Like most little girls she loves princess' so what better way then to celebrate with a cake fit for a princess!
The cake is a 6" vanilla and an 8" vanilla cake and filled with vanilla pudding mouse.
This was my first time making a tiara out of gumpaste and I have to say it's so much easier than royal icing...and it looks much better!! The tiara and the 'A' were painted with tinted luster dust. The roses are hand rolled fondant in various shades of pink.

I think this is my favorite cake to date. I love how everything came together and how it flows together. The only part of the cake I wasn't too happy with was the fondant swags, it was my first time doing those as well.
The very best part was seeing the birthday girls face when she saw the cake...PRICELESS!!

Baptism Cake
This 6" vanilla cake was made for a friends son's baptism. She wanted something very simple.

The cake is covered in blue buttercream, has a diamond pattern and has edible pearls where the diamonds meet.

The bottom boarder and the circle on top are made from white fondant and dusted with pearl dust. The letters on the top of the fondant circle are the baby's intials.

19th Birthday Martini Cake
This cake was made for my cousin's 19th birthday.
All she asked for for theme was martini glass and pink. So this is what I did.

The cake is an 8" chocolate cake filled with cookies and cream buttercream. All the accents are fondant. I think my favorite part is the curls on top!!

Happy 19th Birthday Melissa!!
