Princess Cake

This cake was made for a friends daughter's 5th birthday. Like most little girls she loves princess' so what better way then to celebrate with a cake fit for a princess!

The cake is a 6" vanilla and an 8" vanilla cake and filled with vanilla pudding mouse.

This was my first time making a tiara out of gumpaste and I have to say it's so much easier than royal icing...and it looks much better!! The tiara and the 'A' were painted with tinted luster dust. The roses are hand rolled fondant in various shades of pink.

I think this is my favorite cake to date. I love how everything came together and how it flows together. The only part of the cake I wasn't too happy with was the fondant swags, it was my first time doing those as well.
The very best part was seeing the birthday girls face when she saw the cake...PRICELESS!!

Ping Pong Table Cake

This cake was almost my undoing! We had some rather warm weather last week and fondant hates warm weather! It makes it very sticky and very had to work with.

Ping Pong Table Cake

I was asked to make a cake that looks like a ping pong table for a retirement party. The cake is vanilla and filled with vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant. I wanted to cover the cake in one piece of black fondant but after several attempts of rolling it out I finally decided that one piece just wasn't going to work. I ended up covering the cake with two piece of black fondant. I tried my best to blend the seam but with the weather being so hot and humid touching the fondant to blend just wasn't really an option.

The paddles, the net and the ball are all made of fondant. The net was another issue. I let it dry for a few days but due to the weather it wasn't a taught as I would have liked.

Sunflower Cake

fondant sunflower

This cake was made for a Stag and Doe for some friends. I was asked to make the cake to coordinate with themes for the wedding.

The 10" vanilla cake was filled with chocolate buttercream and covered in white fondant. The bow and the sunflower are made from gumpaste.

After 'finishing' the cake I thought the top looked too bare so I added two more little sunflowers to the top.

Chocolate chip cookie dough buttercream, chocolate ganache, vanilla cake, chocolate chip cookie cake

There is nothing like a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie and looking at my ooey gooey cookies gave me the inspiration for this cake.
This 6" vanilla cake is filled with two layers of chocolate chip cookie dough buttercream and a layer of vanilla buttercream.

It's covered with more vanilla buttercream, topped with chocolate ganache, vanilla buttecream swirls and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.
