Mickey and Minnie Twin Birthday cake

My niece and nephew will be turning one at the end of this month and that my friends is amazing. They have come such a long way in the last year! They were born at 31 weeks weighing in at 3lbs 5oz (Grace) 3lbs 12oz (John).  Seeing them when they were a few weeks old astonished me, two perfectly tiny itty bitty babies in the incubators melted my heart and when I say tiny I mean TINY!

I was honored to make their first birthday cake and what better way to celebrate than with friends, family and Mickey & Minnie :D

My sister-in-law sent me few pictures of what she liked for a Mickey cake and what she liked for a Minnie cake so I combined the two to get the perfect combination!

Top tier is a 6" marble cake filled with homemade fudge and vanilla buttercream. All the decorations are fondant and 100% edible.

The bottom tier was chocolate cake filled with homemade fudge, homemade caramel and vanilla buttercream. Mickey's feet are made from Rice Krispy treats and covered in fondant.

What is a first birthday with a cake smash...or two :) John and Grace both got their own cake to smash. John was more than happy to squash the cake but dainty little Grace wanted nothing to do with it and cried her sweet little heart out.
I will follow up with some pictures once I get them :)

I have to give a HUGE shout out to my sister and brother-in-law. You two have made having twins look easy. Allison you are an AMAZING women and mother and I am so honored to call you my sister.
Love you!!
XO

Horse Inspired 1st Birthday Party - Pink Rose Buttercream Cake with Horse Sugar Cookies and Cowgirl Boots

This order was so much fun, so labor intensive and exhausting all at the same time lol!
I was asked to make an 8" cake, a smash cake, 24 cupcakes, 15 cake pops, 15 decorated horse cookies and 15 decorated cowgirl cookies.

The theme for the party was Horsy / Farm Girl, so cute and the mom did an amazing job pulling everything together!

The 8" cake was chocolate with cookies and cream filling covered in pretty pink buttercream roses. The horse cake topper and all the display was provided by the mom. Photo credits go to Amanda Rowden from Lasting Memories By Amanda Rowden

Gender Reveal Cake

I was recently asked to make a gender reveal cake for a friend which I was super excited about because it was my first one ever! AND how cool is it to know the gender of a baby when no one else does!

I didn't get any pictures of the inside but the party is over and enough time has passed now that I can say CONGRATULATIONS YOU'RE HAVING A BOY!!
Wishing you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy and labor/delivery!!

Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train Birthday Cake | 2nd Birthday Cake

50's Poodle Skirt Cake | 60th Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a 50' s themed cake for a 60th birthday for a friends mom. I have lived down the street and grew up knowing the birthday girl so I felt very honored to be able to make her a birthday cake.

The two tiered cake was stacked and decorated to look like a poodle skirt from the 50's. The 6" top tier was vanilla cake with strawberry filling. The bottom tier was chocolate cake with cookies and cream.

Below are the two cakes before they were stacked.

The cakes stacked and doweled

I wasn't sure I was going to 'flow' the fondant without it tearing...still not 100% sure how I managed it but I did :)
All the details are fondant accept the 'bling' on the buckle. The poodle was hand made.

Hope you had a wonderful 60th birthday Anne, Cheers to many more!!

1st Birthday Cakes - Yellow and Pink 1st Brithday Cake | Blue and Stars 1st Birthday Cake

So VERY behind on posting....like MONTHS!!

I had two 1st birthday cakes to make, one for my niece and one for a friends son. It truly is amazing how fast a year goes by especially when you have a tiny little human being to compare it to.

This yellow and pink 6" cake was made for my niece's 1st birthday. The cake is covered in buttercream with fondant pearls and a fondant one. Cake was vanilla with strawberry buttercream filling.

This 6" cake was made for a friends son's 1st birthday. She has decorations in shades or blue ad burnt orange so the cake was made to match.
